Portrait in the corridor

I am Nadia. I write Thought Swift from a flat in Bukit Merah Central, in the stretches between shifts that start too early or end too late. I am not a journalist, a coach, or a brand. I am a resident who likes a clear sentence and a short walk and a kopitiam that pours before you ask. This site is a personal blog — a ledger of notes about the neighbourhood I move through daily: Redhill slopes, the interchange shelters, void decks at noon, wet-market stairs on Saturdays, and one evening near Chin Swee Road I describe from distance and uncertainty.
I grew up riding buses whose numbers I still remember without trying. I shop at markets where chalk on the board is rewritten before lunch. I write at a kitchen table with the window open, listening to lifts and fans and the small arguments of the estate settling for the night. None of this is credentials. It is context, so you know whose eyes the pages come from.
Why publish at all? Because a note left only in a drawer disappears when the drawer is cleared. Because someone else might read a bus-stop page and recognise their own route remembered. Because writing clarifies what I saw from my end of the street — nothing more ambitious than that. Thought Swift is the folder name. The work is observation, not instruction.
I do not take clients, sell courses, or offer services. There is no newsletter, no comment box, no sign-up sheet. If you want to reach me, use the email on the say hello page. I read messages in early mornings and late evenings, Singapore time.
About the heavier note at the root URL: it is written in present tense because that is how memory arrives when I sit down to write — not as history, as replay. I do not know what happened beyond what I heard and saw from far away. I do not name people I did not speak to. I do not speculate as fact. The page is personal reflection, not reporting.
Everything else here is benign in the ordinary sense: kopi, rain, stairs, habits. I keep British spelling because it matches the English I was taught in school here. I keep sentences short when the subject is sharp and longer when the subject is weather or walking. The site is hosted independently, without analytics, without ads on the page itself, without tracking scripts — see privacy and cookies for the plain version of that story.
This is a personal blog. Everything on it is written by me and reflects my own experiences, opinions, memories and impressions at the time of writing. Notes are personal reflections and are not professional, medical, legal, financial, fitness or news reporting advice. Where a note touches on a serious event nearby, I only describe what I heard or saw from my end of the street — never as reporting, never with details I do not have.
